By now, I bet most of you are wondering what book review I would be writing about. I have always liked the fantasy genre, so I will be writing one now. It is not Harry Potter or the Lord of the Rings, but Eragon. Here it is and enjoy!
My favorite fantasy novel named Eragon.

Eragon, the #1 New York Times Bestseller, is written by a novice author who was only 15 years old when he started writing Eragon's first draft. His name is Christopher Paolini. As mentioned earlier, this is a fantasy novel.
The Kingdom of Alagaësia is ruled by the evil King Galbatorix. When the orphan farm boy Eragon finds a blue stone in the forest, he soon realizes that it is a dragon egg. When the dragon named Saphira is born, Eragon meets his mentor Brom, and becomes the dragon rider foreseen in an ancient prophecy that would set his people free from the evil reign of Galbatorix, who is a rider himself. As the threesome go on an adventure to find the Varden, a group of rebels against the empire, Brom teaches Eragon swordsmanship and magic. Once, they were ambushed by the king's servants called the Ra'zac and they mortally wound Brom. Eragon and Saphira are rescued by an unknown stranger called Murtagh and they rescue an elf named Arya and they eventually find the Varden living with the dwarfs in a giant mountain by the name of Farthen Dûr. Eragon's stay in Farthen Dûr is disrupted when Galbatorix's army declared war on the Varden. Eragon, Saphira, Murtagh, Arya and the Varden bravely fought and defeated his army of Urgals. Eragon slays their leader Durza, an evil sorcerer who captured Arya. However, Eragon gets partially disfigured and paralyzed while Murtagh, two twins from the Varden and Ajihad, the leader of the Varden, goes missing after the victorious defeat. Also, in order to distract Durza, Saphira and Arya broke a great star sapphire sacred to the dwarfs. Eragon is planning to travel to Ellesméra, the land of the elves, where his injury will be treated and also for further training.
Eragon is the first book of the Inheritance cycle and is followed by Eldest, Brisingr and the final book is yet to be released.
Some of the major characters of this book are Eragon and Saphira as they both have appeared in every chapter of Eragon.
The 15 year old main protagonist, Eragon's growth and maturation mirrors the young author's own growing abilities as a person. However, he is very prone to overreaction and anger over injustices. Saphira has the characteristics that any best friend can have: loyal, funny, brave, intelligent and noble. The blue dragon's wisdom is paramount to Eragon's growth. Via telepathy, she communicates with Eragon, a link created when they first touched. The two became close friends and confidants in their journeys.
The theme of this book is to be true to yourself and believe that you can do anything if you set your mind to it. You have to be determined and motivated, and you have to belief in yourself. Do not think negatively and ignore other people who try to put you down.
Eragon has the traditional and archetypal ingredients that make up a fantasy book: a quest, a journey of experience, revenge, romance, betrayal and a special sword. The book has a strong focus on its characters and has a tight plot that makes it entertaining. The thing that ultimately separates Eragon from other average fantasy novels is the fact that Paolini never fails to demonstrate his ability to hold the reader's attention. The reason for this is because the book is quick and exciting and always packed with action and magic.
Eragon is such a notable achievement for a rookie writer. Paolini deserves credit for in that aspect.
Finally, no fantasy devotee will overlook this book, but even the uninitiated should get a copy of Eragon. Do not hesitate, go and get it!
